New Talks Scheduled in KHCAS Labour Dispute
Management and union representatives are scheduled to return to the bargaining table for three days of negotiations early next week. Talks with a provincial mediator are currently scheduled for Tuesday, November 29 – Thursday, December 1st.
“Everyone involved in this organization is here for the same purpose - to serve children and families in need. We are hopeful that negotiations will be fruitful and that we can have our full staff back on the job very soon”, says Suzanne Geoffrion, Interim Executive Director of the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society.
Management continues to deliver critical services for children-at-risk. Lindsay and Haliburton offices remain closed, with calls diverted to the Peterborough office. KHCAS continues to offer child protection services in our service area (Peterborough, Lindsay and Haliburton). Although we continue to provide 24-hr, seven-days-a-week services, office hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm weekdays.
The Peterborough Office is closed to walk-in traffic. People are asked to contact the organization by telephone (705-743-9751 or 1-800-661-2843). Calls will be returned in order of priority; if your call is not of an urgent nature, there may be some delay in response.
“I would like to thank everyone for their hard work, patience and understanding during this difficult time,” says Ms. Geoffrion. “I am seeking the input from all parties concerned, examining our position, and seeking further opportunities for meaningful dialogue. I believe that significant progress can be made.”
