When the Foundation was established in 1983, sending kids to camp was our primary purpose.\u00a0 We have expanded our scope of support, yet summer camp has remained a priority program.\u00a0 Summer camp can offer disadvantaged children much more than a vacation. \u202fCamp is also an opportunity to connect with new friends, to meet and build relationships with caring adults and counselors, and to get outside and just be a kid. Our goal is to foster feelings of inclusion and belonging in children and build their self-confidence \u2013 camp helps us do this. Over the past 40 years, the Kawartha-Haliburton Children\u2019s Foundation has sent over 5340 kids to summer camp. Our goal is help 200 children involved with the Kawartha Haliburton Children\u2019s Aid Society attend camp this summer.\u00a0 By participating in the Send a Kid to Camp AXE-travaganza presented by Herod Financial Services, you can ensure local at-risk children have the opportunity to experience the joy of camp this summer.
