The Santa’s Sleigh Holiday Gift Giving Program is the annual Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation fundraising event held at the Peterborough Walmart Store on Chemong Road <\/strong>that helps make the holiday’s brighter for local children and youth. Through our Santa\u2019s Sleigh program, each child receiving services from the Kawartha-Haliburton Children\u2019s Aid Society receives gifts of their choice purchased and donated by members of the community. \u00a0 Walmart shoppers choose a card from the tree, purchase the requested gift and drop it off in the Sleigh. Gifts are then collected by Foundation staff, sorted and delivered to the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society case workers, who in turn happily present them to each child.<\/p>\n

\"\"Each year upwards of 150 local volunteers from the Central Lakes Association of Realtors<\/strong>, the East Peterborough Lions Club,<\/strong> as well as a number of generous, community-minded individuals give their time to mind the Sleigh at Walmart on Chemong Road.\u00a0 Over the last thirty-four years, our community has given over 20,000 gifts to children through the Santa\u2019s Sleigh gift-giving program.\u00a0 Many local businesses and organizations also sponsor entire families in need. \u00a0This holiday gift giving program also collects donations of much-needed gift cards and personal care items in support of youth who are in transition from KHCAS care and working at developing their independence.<\/p>\n

We would like to thank all individual and business donors who participate every year. You have shown that the holiday spirit is still alive in your hearts and minds.\u00a0 We would also like to thank Walmart on Chemong for allowing us to park our sleigh in their entrance way each year. We look forward to carrying on this annual holiday toy-drive that has become a tradition in our community.<\/p>\n
