When the Foundation was established in 1983, sending kids to camp was our primary purpose.\u00a0 We have expanded our scope of support, yet summer camp has remained a priority program.\u00a0 Summer camp can offer disadvantaged children much more than a vacation. \u202fCamp is also an opportunity to connect with new friends, to meet and build relationships with caring adults and counselors, and to get outside and just be a kid. Our goal is to foster feelings of inclusion and belonging in children and build their self-confidence \u2013 camp helps us do this.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past 40 years, the Kawartha-Haliburton Children\u2019s Foundation has sent over 5340 kids to summer camp.
