What is Kinship?
Kinship caregivers are family members such as Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents who take on the daily care of a child who can no longer live at their parents’ home. These caregivers make sacrifices in order to provide stability and care for their extended family, with little government assistance.
We don’t want financial barriers to prevent these very special caregivers from providing care for family members when it is needed. Our Kinship Support, Program, within our Thrive Fund, aims to help offset some of the extra costs involved with the responsibility of taking care of a family member. Through this support Kinship caregivers involved with the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society are provided gift cards to help cover daily expenses such as clothing, school supplies, gas, groceries or other expenses.
