1. What is the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation and how do you differ from the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society?
The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation is the arms-length foundation of the KHCAS. We raise funds to assist children, youth and families supported by our local Children’s Aid Society in order to provide them with enrichment opportunities for which they do not receive government funding, as a means to strengthen their capacity and reach their full potential. We cannot address or respond to any concerns about a child and ask that you please call 705-743-9751.

3. When was the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation founded?
The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation was founded in 1982 and received our charitable status in 1983.
4. Who does the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation benefit?
The Foundation benefits children, youth and families that are supported by the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society in Peterborough County, the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County.
5. What types of programs does the Foundation fund?
The Foundation’s primary focus is to assist those who need our help the most – disadvantaged children and youth. The Foundation is committed to a financial allocation to a wide variety of life-enriching programs ranging from dance and music lessons to sports activities, from our Summer Camp Program to our bursary program.
6. How do I make a donation?

You can make a one-time gift, monthly donation, a gift in someone’s name, or in memory by completing the online donation form. You can also donate securities through Canada Helps. You will receive a tax receipt via email following your online donation.
You may also donate by calling 705-743-9751 or by sending a cheque payable to the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation, 1100 Chemong Road, Peterborough, ON K9H 7S2. Once the donation has processed, a tax receipt will be mailed to you.
7. How do I become a Corporate Sponsor?

8. Where do you receive your funding from?
The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation does not receive any Ontario Ministry funding. We rely solely on the generosity of private and public foundations, corporate sponsorship, and donations from local businesses and individuals.
9. How many children are served by these programs?
Approximately 1,200 children living in Peterborough County, the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County are assisted each year through the programs and services funded by the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation.
10. When I donate a gift to Santa’s Sleigh where does it go from there?
We are so fortunate to have the incredible network of social workers employed by the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society to distribute gifts to the children they regularly visit.
