We truly feel kinship caregivers are the unsung heroes. They make so many sacrifices in order to provide stability and care for extended family (children and youth) involved with Children’s Aid Societies, especially with little or no resources available. Yet there are start-up costs associated with placing a child with extended family such as purchasing a bed, desk, school uniform or computer, special formula for an infant, as well as day to day groceries – the price of which has increased due to the pandemic. While family members may want to help, financial barriers are now preventing them from doing so. In 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with your support we initiated our Kinship Start-Up Fund and to date have spent over $10,000 supporting children placed with these very special caregivers.
