It was a very busy time at this year’s Santa’s Sleigh. For the very first time, a gift was purchased for every child’s name designated for Santa’s Sleigh. We were even fulfilling requests for children who were referred to the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society as early as last week.
In total over 1,100 local children received gifts thanks to the space donated by Chemong Walmart, the media support from The Wolf 101.5 FM, CHEX TV and 1005 Fresh Radio, and the volunteer support from Peterborough and the Kawarthas Association of Realtors Inc. the East Peterborough Lions Club of A-3, Nancy McIntyre, Foundation Board Members, CAS employees and their families, and other dedicated volunteers.
I would especially like to thank all those business, organizations and schools who donated toys, food and cleaning supplies in hampers, gift cards and clothing, and to those sponsored large numbers of children and families this year: Devil’s Elbow Ski & Snowboard Area, the Millbrook Needlers, FedEx Peterborough, Shoreline Casinos Fraserville, Fleming College (Human Resources, Trades and Technology, School of Justice and Community Development), Peterborough Examiner, Monsignor O’Donaghue Catholic School, GE Peterborough, Peterborough Utilities Group, Americaneagle.com Peterborough, Laurie Moynes, Crestwood Preparatory College North York, Savage Arms, Lakefield, the Ennismore Knitting Club, LCBO Haliburton, Peterborough Hyundai, FCI Windows Minor Atom AA Petes, Peterborough Subaru, E. James Jordan, Barrister and Solicitor, the City of Kawartha Lakes Court Services, SCF Solid Countertop Fabricators, Village Animal Hospital, Ontario Clean Water Agency, Kawartha Ontario XV Blue Knights, Justice Katherine Henderson, Pepsico Foods Canada – Quaker Oats Plant, Bridgit’s Brigade, St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School, Douro, Sysco Peterborough, St. James United Church, Al and Trish Parro, Nurse Scrap Metal, and the Peterborough Minor Peewee AA Petes.
I would also like to particularly thank our dedicated Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society workers who made a point of visiting all their families in the past few weeks and are continuing to do so up until December 22nd in order to get all the gifts delivered.
Finally my most important thank you goes out to this wonderful giving community! To everyone who donated gifts, cash at the sleigh or to our Foundation online to support this program, we are forever in your debt.
With appreciation and best wishes,
Deb Aben
