Violence against Women/Domestic Violence

Approximately 1 in 5 referrals to the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society are related to the violence against women and domestic violence concerns. With respect to violence against women, there is a significant intersection between the child’s safety and the safety of the mother. It is complex for child welfare workers to assess and intervene for the child’s safety. The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society is one of several signatories to a protocol that guides practice when service providers and child welfare intersect where there has been intimate partner violence.
