Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child and Family Services has been mandated by its member First Nations for over 20 years to develop a service model and agency to provide child, youth, and family services to meet the needs of the Indigenous populations in its jurisdiction. On February 28, 2019, Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child and Family Services received designation by the Province of Ontario, as a child welfare authority to deliver child protection services under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act of Ontario.
Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag offers services that honour and support the inherent authority of Indigenous nations and families to provide care and protection for their children based on cultures, traditions, values, beliefs and customs. Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag’s mission is to provide services that protect children and strengthen family and community relationships while keeping children connected with their culture, language and community.
Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag continues to work closely to complete the gradual transfer of files with five partner agencies: Kawartha-Haliburton, Highland Shores, York Region, and Durham Children’s Aid Society, and Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions.
