Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society and Curve Lake First Nation Government have jointly determined the need for establishment of a formal agreement outlining specific roles and responsibilities regarding protection and admission prevention services for children and their families who are members of the Curve Lake First Nation. We recognize that the delivery of services to Indigenous children, youth and families must be responsive to considerations relating to Indigenous traditions, spirituality, language, culture, values and lifestyles.
Initially established in 1986, and revitalized on December 1, 2017, the purpose of the agreement is to provide an effective working agreement and understanding between Curve Lake First Nation and Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society regarding the delivery of service to Indigenous children and their families. In all cases where Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society is involved with a child, we commit to collaborate with Curve Lake First Nations on every aspect of involvement from beginning to end.
