At Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society, we recognize and celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ children, youth, families, and communities.
In child welfare, we know that 2SLGBTQIA+ young people may face additional challenges, including stigma, discrimination, and barriers to affirming supports. These realities remind us of the importance of creating communities and systems – where all children and youth feel safe, respected, and valued for who they are.
Pride is both a celebration and a reflection. It honours the history and leadership of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities while recognizing that there is still work to be done to ensure equity, inclusion, and belonging for all. This means supporting families, strengthening inclusive services, and working together as a community to uphold dignity and well-being.
Throughout June and all year long, we stand with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in building a future where every child and youth is affirmed, supported, and able to live authentically.
